The journey

By plane

Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) has international connections and is around 15 minutes from the city. The C-1 commuter train leaves directly from the terminal.

By long-distance train

Málaga María Zambrano station has high-speed rail connections from Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Córdoba.

The C-1 commuter train

Getting between Málaga Airport, Málaga city and Fuengirola is easy on the C-1 commuter train. At the airport, follow signs for “Tren / Cercanías” and take the train towards Málaga Centro Alameda or Fuengirola.

Airport → Málaga

Take the C-1 towards Málaga Centro Alameda. Get off at Málaga María Zambrano for the main railway station, or Málaga Centro Alameda for the historic centre. The journey takes around 12 minutes.

Airport → Fuengirola

Take the C-1 towards Fuengirola. It is a direct train and the journey takes around 34 minutes.

Fuengirola → Málaga

Take the C-1 towards Málaga Centro Alameda. Get off at Málaga María Zambrano or continue to Málaga Centro Alameda, depending on where you are staying.

Málaga → Fuengirola

Take the C-1 towards Fuengirola from Málaga Centro Alameda. The line also stops at Málaga María Zambrano, the airport, Torremolinos and Benalmádena.

You can buy a ticket at the station or currently tap a contactless bank card or phone at the barriers. Check the Renfe website for current timetables and service changes before travelling.

    A Málaga institution for churros and hot chocolate.

  • La Malagueña

    A great place to try traditional tejeringos and a local breakfast.

  • Flavours of Málaga

    Try sardine skewers, fried fish and anchovies, Málaga salad, porra antequerana, aubergine with cane honey, Málaga sweet wine and tortas locas.

  • Tapas in the centre

    Wander around Calle Granada and Plaza de la Merced and stop wherever looks good. We always make time for Casa Lola.

Fuengirola

  • The seafront promenade

    One of Fuengirola's highlights, with miles of coastline to explore.

  • A day at the beach

    There are several kilometres of beach where you can switch off and relax.

  • Los Boliches

    A lively neighbourhood with restaurants and its own beach.

  • The marina

    A pleasant place for a walk and a drink.

  • Sohail Castle

    One of Fuengirola's landmarks, particularly beautiful at sunset.

  • A drink by the sea

    Probably the best plan of all.

  • Breakfast in Fuengirola

    For something simple and local, order coffee with toast or a pitufo. There are also plenty of brunch spots around the centre and Los Boliches.
